A Contract With Villanova
In very recent times, the VUCRs have seen a slight decline in participation and presence on campus. With an unexpected shakeup in executive power in the club, leadership of the VUCRS had fallen to a small group of people who handled it as best they could given the circumstances under which the received it. Their successes are greatly appreciated and have created the conditions which allow us to come to you today with a new mission. As has been seen, this group of dedicated members managed not only to keep afloat the club, but were able to help it regain its footing and hold new elections for a proper Executive Board. With a strong foundation in place, this new board has given itself the task of rebuilding and reenergizing the VUCRs. In order to accomplish this task, we have come up with an outline of goals we wish to accomplish before the year is out. What is most important to remember is that none of these goals can be accomplished without you, the people, the VUCRs. We can have all the great ideas we want, but these goals will only be met if we have the will and effort of the members of the organization behind us. We look forward to the future, and hope you all will share our vision for a bigger, better club.

| Re-establish the VUCRs as a prominent organization on campus As was seen in the primary season for the 2008 election, there is a very vocal liberal Democrat presence on Villanova's campus. It is up to us to counter this ideology in a very positive way by simply making ourselves more public, more vocal, and more well-known.
| Host social events for the VUCR community There is this image of the Republican party as the party of stuffy, boring old men sitting in their boardrooms counting their money and cleaning their guns. We all know this isn't true, so let's end the stereotype by holding events for the VUCRs and their friends (even the liberal ones) to meet in a less formal setting and just have fun.
| Work more closely with national student organizations While the most important actions are the ones we conduct ourselves at home for our campus, we should not just ignore the fact that there is a national organization, like the Young Americans Foundation, who we could turn to for support and ideas to further our own agenda
| Reach out to the Villanova Community off-campus If we are to succeed as an organization we need to reach beyond the borders of our campus. There are several groups in the local community such as the local branches of the GOP and the American Legion to which we can reach for support or offer our services
| Form a Republican Party Volunteer Corps Any good Republican knows that the best campaign is the grassroots campaign. With several key elections coming up in 2008, it is imperative that we get involved in helping to ensure that the Republican party can win decisive victories on the local, state, and national levels. Towards this end, a Volunteer Corps will be established which can be sent where ever our support may be needed to help achieve Victory in '08
| Hold more debates, better organized debates While the debates up to this point have been entertaining and informative, a new strategy needs to be taken. A Debate Committee is to be established which will have two missions: Firstly to work with the College Democrats to organize four debates per year, with one being hosted each semester by each organization respectively, and secondly, to form a support system for the debating team in order to approach the debates with the full force of the VUCRs
